Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a Production and Service Manager to join one of our clients located in Ottawa for a permanent role.
Tasks include but are not limitede to:
• Directly contribute to achievement and exceedance of corporate goals for revenue, gross margin and profit on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Play a key role as a member of the Sr. Leadership Team in a cross-functional and collaborative manner
• Develop and implement a vision for Production and Service
• Foster a team environment characterized by inclusion, collaboration, excellence and overachievement
• Oversee a team of approximately 19 that include nine service technicians and 10 production staff including the performance review process
• Identify and maintain systems which maximize weekly service revenue, including accurate forecasting
• Provide daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly production and service metrics and determine how to best measure production and service performance (quality, inventory, ship to request, scrap, turnaround times and related)
• Maintain ship to request (fulfillment) metrics of 99% or better (to ensure we meets last minute needs of the industry)
• Establish processes and metrics to ensure that objectives for calibration and repair turnaround times are consistently met (and improved) in an environment where the volume of incoming units have a peak and valley trend
• Prepare, submit and maintain the annual Production and Service Budget, the Capital Equipment Budget as well as short and long range strategic plans
• Analyze payback on major equipment purchases and present recommendations to Team members, including FAR (Fixed Asset Requisition) submissions
• Ensure that Production and Service have properly documented and current procedures which form the basis of Quality Assurance
• Implement programs as may be appropriate such as JIT, Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen and others
• Oversee the RMA (return material authorization) system and play a central role in modernization of the process
• Manage all inventory to ensure ship to request requirements are met while also meeting corporate inventory level objectives monthly, quarterly and annually
• Oversee “COMPASS,” our real-time inventory tracker which allows Sales to know what FG (finished goods) are ready for sale or when they will be
• With a spirit of partnership, interact with and manage relationships with Suppliers and Customers, negotiating purchases and contracts where required (with assistance from the Purchasing function)
• Oversee the purchasing function
• Working with the R&D Team ensure new product introductions (NPIs) and designs are production-friendly, efficient, cost effective and timely
• Taking the lead role, oversee the Environmental Health and Safety Committee. Ensure that it meets and exceeds environmental and legal requirements, now and into the future, including health & safety legislation, RoHS, WEEE, CSA, FCC, CE, and others
• Play a lead role in integrations between the US location and the Ottawa location
• Play a lead role in the corporate continuous improvement program
• From time to time, as required, recruit and hire new staff and refresh the talent pool. If required, assist in recruitment efforts for other departments
• Train (or provide systems for training) and mentor the Production and Service Team members
• Keep up to date on current industry trends for improving Production and Service efficiency.
• Perform other related duties as required
REQUIREMENTS:
• University Degree (focus on production and electronics, business minor or related courses preferred)
• 3 years of experience in an electronics/instrumentation Production and Service environment
• Demonstrated track record in managing teams and individuals
• Strong leadership and people development skills. Able to manage a team of diverse individuals.
• Knowledge of production processes as applied to the electronics industries is mandatory
• Expertise in MRP/ERP, Materials Management, Inventory, Quality, Production and ECO management
• Expertise with ESD requirements in an electronics manufacturing setting
• Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Very strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
• Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning and budgeting.
• Strategic thinking, innovative creativity, analytical and superior organizational skills
• Ability to develop and build strong and effective relationships
• Ability to work with highly confidential information
• Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle for occasional local travel and hold a Valid Passport
